Sailor bracelets, tied by our hands in Mystic, Connecticut, since 1957. Start with the traditional white cotton bracelet, pick a color, or choose your own striped combination. Narrow, original, wide and satin-outline styles are all here.
The narrow bracelet is about 3/4 inch wide, the original is about 1 1/4 inches, and the wide is about 2 inches. They're cotton, including the base of our satin-outline bracelets. The satin outline itself is polyester.
Want your own color combination? Our Striped Sailor Bracelet, Custom Colors listing lets you choose the colors together.
Our traditional cotton sailor bracelets shrink when wet. Take a 7-inch bracelet on a wrist that's close to that size. Once it's been wet and shrunk down, it's there to stay. That's the traditional fit.
If you'd rather be able to remove it, go up a size. Even after shrinking, the larger bracelet gives you a better chance of working it back over your hand. It isn't a promise that it will come off. Your hand has a say in that too.
The satin-outline bracelets are different. We've already preshrunk those. The size is the size, so order the fit you want to wear. Remember, it has to go over your hand first.
Check the size choices on the bracelet you're ordering. If you need a special size, send us a comment through the website and we'll modify it for you.
It's cotton, so expect a little dirt and some fading, much as you would with a favorite T-shirt. A scrub with soap while you're in the shower will clean it up. Some skin care products and treated municipal water can also bleach the cotton. We've put more of the questions we hear in the shop into our sailor bracelet questions and answers.
We seal each bracelet in a watertight package so it arrives clean and nice, with a card that has our family story on the back. Come see us in Mystic if you'd like to watch us tie them.
