As I sit here typing away on my laptop, the temperature outside the boat is nine below zero. Just a mere 12 days ago, on Feb 2, Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring. Then why was this picture my view from the shop window a few days ago?
Now Phil is supposedly magical, and is the one true groundhog for predictions. I believe that Phil has some competition. On that very same day, our own Betsy Mongrel tried her hand at predicting, and her forecast is coming to fruition.
Now here is Betsy Mongrel on that very same day. It was a balmy 45 degrees and sunny, which is what I believe lulled Phil into his false prediction. As you can see from this picture, Betsy is very intently staring at her shadow. She tried sitting at various positions and angles, but every time she saw her shadow. She also finished her prediction by running inside, jumping on the couch, and climbing underneath a blanket. This is a position she has not strayed too far from since that historic day.
I believe that Betsy is endowed with magical properties also. If you don't believe me, come visit her at our shop in downtown Mystic, CT. I can guarantee you at the very least she will make you smile. She might even melt your heart, like the snow and ice will do on Sunday March 20, the true prediction on when winter will end.
As an side, we are proud to adopt our lifelong companions from rescue leagues. Betsy Mongrel was rescued through 'For the Love of Labs'
