Nautical Woven Star, handmade in our Mystic, Connecticut workshop from cotton cord. This one's for the top of a nautical Christmas tree, though you can hang it elsewhere at home. My grandfather showed me how to make this design in the 1970s. A star like this topped our family tree for more than a dozen years.
Each star is approximately 7 inches across. Choose navy, red, or yellow detailing from the dropdown.
Our Christmas tree stood in the bay window overlooking the local cove. For more than a dozen years, a star like this was what we saw coming up the path after sledding on the back slope toward the water.
It was one of the first really fancy designs my grandfather showed me in the 1970s. The one I made was small and white, and it became a family favorite.
Jill brought color into Mystic Knotwork in 2008. These stars got their colored detailing along the way, and we began offering them online in 2017.
We decorate our workshop trees with rope and cord. If you're doing the same at home, see our Christmas collection for monkey fist ornaments, snowmen, and more handmade nautical decorations.
