The Gnomes of Mystic Knotwork
I don't know why but we have a lot of gnome stuff going on. Our wine bottle gnomes are a fun project and look nice around the home during the holidays. For year round enjoyment try different hats like the striped french watch cap or maybe a baseball cap. You can use a large wine bottle or a small bottle as the body. We have also used a lobster buoy and a small boat fender. Our YouTube DIY tutorial is linked at the end of this blog.
This is the mini bottle gnome. (Not the full sized wine bottle.)
For these cute ornaments, one of our artists came up with this design using all manila rope.
Jill came up with this holiday gnome which is made with a small boat fender.
I think that is a large sock on this bottle gnome. Decorate the hat with colorful ribbon or string.
One of our talented artists, Tracie, went over the top with this life size gnome named Capt. Turk. Made mostly from our manila rope. The hair is intricately designed and tied with braids and beads. The hat is so wonderful. Currently it is not for sale. He would be hard to let go of!

Making the gnome ornament is fun and easy. Jill shows you how in this YouTube DIY video. You'll need 10 pieces of 3-4 mm cord or yarn cut into to 9 inch pieces, 2 pieces of thinner cord about 12 inches, bead for the nose, knit hats you can find on amazon.
For a few years now we have been making the gnome lobster pot buoy for the Stonington Lobster Pot Tree.
