On the Lobster Tour in Mystic Connecticut!

You hear the word summer, you picture a big ol' lobster roll. We're lucky enough to live in the lobster capital of the world, New England. We're here to tell you how to get you fill before summer ends, maybe even create your own 'Lobster Roll Summer 2019 tour.'  Which is exactly what we'll be doing this week. Now just about every restaurant has lobster rolls on their menus- but we're here to talk about the little shacks on the side of the ocean that are t-shirt and flip flop friendly. The big question is though - cold Connecticut style or hot New England style??
In the old fishing village Noank, on Pearl Street you have three different options for fabulous authentic rolls. We'll begin at the end of Pearl Street down by Morgan Point Lighthouse, Costello's.

    COSTELLO'S CLAM SHACK

Dog friendly, shaded, and  on the water - now that's the perfect picnic. At Costello's you can get a cold or hot lobster roll, lobster dinner or various other lobster filled meals. Their lobster dinner comes with chips and slaw, and a big ol' lobster already cracked for you. Their cold lobster roll comes on a toasted bun as more of a salad. Their hot lobster roll comes on a sesame burger bun, steamy and buttery. Costello's is also famous for their fried clam strips, mussels, clams and more crazy good seafood. Costello's located right next to a sweet little shop called M&W Coastal Goods where you can grab a Noank tee to celebrate your trip. Right in front of you there's a fun tiki hut cruise, and Mystic Boat Adventures. These two trips are fun pre or post roll. Costello's is also BYOB, so throw some summer shandy's in a cooler and head over. Not to worry if you forgot - Noank is also equipped with a package store up the road!

    ABBOTT'S LOBSTER IN THE ROUGH

Stop one done on the tour - hope you're not full yet. Walk about 50 feet to the left and you're at Abbott's! Get it... Abbott's and Costello's? Now Abbott's is the full Lobster Experience from the fitting O.M.G Lobster roll, to massive lobster dinners, or their classic rolls you can't go wrong. They even have lobster gummies which is a must for your post lobster feast. Another BYOB restaurant there is plenty of seating for all families or groups to sit at their own picnic table and enjoy the boats leaving and entering the mouth of the river. The tall masted ships like the Pearl and the Argia are a fun sight while sitting taking in the New England scenery.

Take a walk a bit further down Pearl Street and you'll come across Ford's Lobster. Drive down a steep driveway and you're greeted by a small shack covered in colorful weathered buoys. At Ford's you can get all the classics, rolls, dinners, and enjoy the view of the mouth of the Mystic River as boats speed in and out. One of the greatest perks of Ford's is that you can pull up and dock your boat right at their pilings. You can run up and get your order, and it's out faster than you can untie your cleat. This is a great stop if you're making your way up the river to see the the drawbridge, or the seaport. You can also go for a nice sit down meal, with fresh fish dishes and more, you can sit down or just pick up!

These are simply the town staples where you bring your own drinks, grab a picnic table, and enjoy the view! There are plenty of other amazing restaurants around Noank and the Downtown Mystic area that serve seafood and killer lobster rolls.
