    A few weeks ago Matt and Jill, were invited to the 2025 Connecticut SBA Awards Ceremony. Per their invitation conversation, "your SBA award was never celebrated properly in 2020. Please join us this time!" That's right because of Covid, the awards ceremony was canceled in 2020. 

    They came back from the event that was held last Thursday with quite a surprise story.

    Well it turns out Matt and Jill, who were totally surprised, were invited up on stage, praises were presented by many, bringing Matt to tears, and there was a standing ovation! Totally unexpected, a great evening all around was celebrated with the 2025 award recipients too.

    We gathered some history and photos from 2020, and other years...

    An excerpt from Matt from our 2020 blog:

    Did I mention, the week before the formal Covid shutdown, Mystic Knotwork was named 'Small Business of the Year' for Connecticut by the SBA?  I learned only a few months later that this is the highest small business honor we could get. The year was so full of energy, I didn't realize how 'prestigious' that award is.  What was to be an awards week in DC back in May turned into a Zoom meeting in September, but still, it's humbling to lead a team that earned that award.

    In 2020, Matthew Beaudoin, President & CEO of Mystic Knotwork, LLC, was named the Small Business Person of the Year in Connecticut. This award was given by the US Small Business Administration. Matthew Beaudoin's company, Mystic Knotwork, is a long-standing business that originated as a passion project and grew into a knot shop.

    In 2020, in spite of the Covid masking, some local radio and TV stations came to the shop to interview Matt and Jill.

    The clock plaque resides on the wall of the Cottrell St. workshop.

    We polished off this beauty for a photo session on the Mystic River.
